Toxoplasmosis
During pregnancy, their can be an infection by the toxoplasma gondi. This can affect the fetus by producing congenital toxoplasmosis. This can cause fetal malformations (hydrocephalus, cerebral calcifications, jaundice, coreoretinitis, and other illnesses). During the first three months of pregnancy, the fetus is at its highest risk for toxoplasmosis. During the second and third trimester the possibility of the disease declines sharply. Avoiding eating raw meat and having contact with cats are ways to prevent the disease.
