The Retina
Retinal detachment can be caused by:
- Hereditary diseases
- Ocular trauma
- Intra ocular bleeding or tearing of the retina
- For traction (vitreous)
- Natural aging
- Ocular diseases such as tumors, severe swelling, or diabetic complications
The treatment is always surgical and can be: vitrectomy, silicone application, bubble gas application, or retinalpexy.
One of the newer treatments is the application of intraocular avastin that inhibits the growth of abnormal retinal blood vessels. |
