Pterygium

When the pterygium has reached the size that it is a threat to vision, or has become anti aesthetic, then it is the time for surgery.  The doctor will cut the pterygium with a surgical method that has a 95% rate of no reoccurrence.  This can even improve to a 98% success rate if the doctor makes the procedure with conjunctival transplant.

A poor extraction of the pterygium will have a higher risk of reoccurrence in the patient.

Dry and dusty conditions are bad for pterygium, so it’s very useful to use lubricating drops. Also, ultraviolet rays are bad, so to protect the eyes, it is recommended to use sunglasses that have special UV protection.
