Tear Duct Obstruction

This is an infection characterized by inflammation of the tear ducts caused by the obstruction of drainage of the nasal and tear passages. The germs that are typical of this infection are staphylococcus aureus, and beta hemolytic. In children it can be congenital. In adults it can be caused by continuous infections such as conjunctivitis, retinitis, sinusitis, or trauma.

Symptoms

  • Pain
  • Redness
  • Swelling in the interior eyelid
  • Constant tearing
