Glaucoma
To diagnose glaucoma it is necessary to have a complete eye exam that includes a measure of the intra-ocular pressure. Similar to the exploration of the optic nerve, this is a painless exam that can be done in a few minutes. If your ophthalmologist sees any abnormalities, the patient may require a visual field exam to confirm the diagnosis of glaucoma disease. Once the diagnosis is confirmed, the treatment is topical medicine, laser ray (yag laser iridotomy), or, if necessary, surgery.
